Wrist Warmer... Gauntlet

Now that my wrist is able to move and manipulate needles a bit better, it was time for some serious learnin' to get back into the knitterly thing.

So, since my poor arthritic wrist will be quite stiff during the winter, I decided to knit up a gauntlet. I was doing an online search for wrist warmers and saw this pattern...
lots of cables...
lots of time to go wonky!
Well, I got it done, with some modifications... the original pattern called for the ribbing to go up past the elbow and to include a finger ring of crochet stitches for the middle finger... (quite cute, but too tight when it was finished). I shortened the pattern, and made the circumference smaller by using sock yarn and size 3 needles, and cut the ring.
This was supposed to be a quick knit, did not find that to be true!
I wore it to church today for the test drive... not bad!
October is called Soctober for knitters, and after all these cables, I mean, after dropping so many needles,
I think I will wait till at least February to start the socks!
Oh, by the way, I only made ONE!

Comfy Cozies await - - winter is just around the corner

Heather and I have been working on some donation projects. She made this chemo cap and is working on another one! Thank you so much, Heather! Still trying to get over a stiff wrist, so her help is definitely appreciated!

Hannah is modeling the hat and scarf combos that the Comfy Cozies are doing for the homeless this year. It was asked that we make scarves that fit more closely around the neck, so this pattern was given. I found a pattern for a warm ski band that is made like the scarf... tried it, and voila!

Hannah didn't mind putting this on - -it is 46 degrees today. Shouldn't really complain since it was in the 80s last week!

Carol and I are starting a knitting club in our rooms Monday, we had two kids show up for the informational meeting - -but three more told us that they forgot! Two kids said that they have yarn from their grandmas that they can donate... if that happens, that would be such a blessing! Then the students would not have to invest in their donated pieces!

Hope everyone is warm this weekend...

you too, Steven, out on the mountains of Colorado elk hunting!

Finally made something!

At the Comfy Cozy meeting in August, Nancy gave us a pattern for scarves that would hug the neck a bit better for the homeless. It looked a bit difficult, but I decided to try it anyway. I really did not know how to increase on the first stitch - none of my books mentioned it as an option, and my computer was off - so I faked it! Sue helped me out after the fact, so I will know next time! But, if you don't look too closely - my fake stitches aren't so bad!

Here is Britt, the lovely model, showing you how wonderful this scarf is on a day that is 79 degrees! Let's hope that it will work in 20 below! Thanks, Britt, for your willingness!

This can be doubled, like below, or worn open:

Oh, and one more thing... my knitting 10 minutes a day turned into a dishcloth. This is not blocked since it will be scrubbing sunny-side-up eggs off a plate! Britt always tells her beetle, "I love you!" right before she locks the car. The car then says, "BeeBeep!"

Britt says that means, "I love you, too!"

Ten Minutes Is All I Get!

On your mark, get set, GO! I get 10 minutes to knit - with my splint on - then, I have to wait for tomorrow!

Stop the clock... wrong yarn for the needles,

but boy it felt good! ; )

Wrong house???

After cleaning up the ground and all the low hanging toilet paper... this is all I had left. I did notice that Storm Todaro's tree got it, too. So, I think that these 30 rolls were supposed to be for him.

Done with the wrap... tying up loose ends!

I was working on this when we went to Tennessee and was not happy with the way the pattern showed to close it. I decided to crochet around the one exposed end and crochet the two sides together to close it with a diagonal across the front.
Tried it on - it's cozy!
