More Felted Stuff!

I found a pattern for a French market basket on line, free... without infringing on any rights... and here it is! It has a square bottom so it holds lots of yarn and another project as you can see!

Then, I decided that Hannah Girl needs a new bag to carry her lip gloss and hair things. So, I made this for her on Saturday. She asked me, "Mammie, why are you using that color?" And I told her that I was tired of blue! She said, "Pink is my favorite color!"

She has not seen it, so please don't tell. It will be an Easter gift!

The glasses are there to show the perspective - it is little - and way too cute! This pattern is from THE TWO OLD BAGS and it is from the mother and daughter bags pattern booklet... the pattern comes with a small (this one), a medium, and a large bag pattern. If it is this cute... I may do up the other two sizes!

It is always fun to learn new stuff... this bag has a built in, reinforced base. You knit two bases, and then lay them on top of each other, and knit them together as one. Good thinking! That way the bottom looks a bit fuller and will keep its shape better!

The flowers were purchased at Pat Catan's Craft Center... credit where it is due. I hot glued them on since they were too thick to get a needle through. But, cute none-the-less,

right?

Lucy Bag with Fibonacci Striping

I made my second Lucy Bag. This one has God's number pattern in it! Now isn't this one visually pleasing? I really like the striping in the back!

But, on a more serious note, PRAYING FOR YOU BOTH, STEVEN AND ASHLEY, FOR YOUR LOSS! WE ARE SO SAD FOR YOU! SENDING OUR PRAYERS TO THE FRIENDS AND THEIR FAMILIES AS THEY GO THROUGH THIS TOUGH TIME.

Felting Frenzy!!!

I saw the Lucy bag knitted up when we were in Boulder, Colorado on a side trip from Ashley's and Steven's house! I loved the shape and asked about it. Lady at store said, "Buy the pattern!" I went to my LYS and bought it, knitted it up between scarves...

then, after felting, I have the cutest bag ever! Working on a second bigger one with Fibonacci striping!

I found out that the new washing machines won't felt! I have a 15 year old machine that I was told NOT TO GET RID OF if there is more felting in my future. But, it is quite sad that the stitches all disappear - but, my wonky kitchner stitch to join the handles is nowhere to be found!

I put some blue in my life : )

Results of Britt's Project!

The members of the Comfy Cozy Knitting Group (made up of Heather, Mammie, and Britt) made a total of 40 scarves to give to a mental health agency that works with adolescents! So, needless to say, Britt was pretty pleased since all the knit clubs that were to be involved cancelled meetings due to snow. But, not to let Britt down, Heather and I got to it!



Here are 37 of them - - Britt wanted to add one of her own, so Heather and I jumped in to each add another one! Bagged and ready to go... Heather and I will be happy to move on to other projects that can use blue and red! But, we sure had a good time knitting our hearts out to make Britt's project a success! Now who wouldn't want to do that???



Go out there and pass out all that love, all those prayers, and all that warmth!

Mason Dressed for Brittannie's Birthday Dinner

Super Saturday of Slinky Scarves!

So Miss Britt got her project approved, and Heather and I are the knit club since I haven't seen the Comfy Cozy group yet to ask them for help! So, we sit knitting! She made a super cute striped one on the loom... seemed to take forever for her, but seemed to just jump off the needles every time I looked over at her! Good thing the guys are out of town or they would think us both 80!

Anyway, normally I don't care for sugar all that much. Once off it, it gives a kicking headache! But, I can't seem to figure out why I am fiending for candy corn!!!

Anyone want to throw a hand knit scarf this way?

It is for a good cause: People in the Columbus area dealing with mental health issues...

please, no red or blue per agency's request!

Knitting, Knitting, and more knitting!

Mason's Christmas sweater was finished on time... and he wore it to Miss Brittannie's surprise birthday dinner at Macaroni Grill. Thanks, Manny (i still love you, Manny... sorry about that!) and family for the road trip and awesome time we all had - -Good job, Manny!


I found this pattern on line - -Chromosome Cap - - and thought that Ashley might like it! I was excited to send it with Tom and Matt since they were going to Colorado for the book meetings. She got it... and loved it!!! She said that she is going to show everyone at work! I am glad she liked it! Whooo hoooooo!















Now that winter has set in - -and we have had our first official "below -20 snow day," it was time to knit some warm stuff! Over Christmas break, Ashley and Steven dropped me off at Yarnia when they went to run errands. They came in to get me and saw thrummed mittens. Melissa explained how they were made, so I bought the unspun wool and hat yarn to make some cozy hats for them.

The outside:

The yarn was glorious... Rowan Scottish Tweed Aran...chunky and wonderful to hold! Adding the roving was not too much of a problem!

This was one of those times when I was super happy to be kinesthetic!

The inside:

I found out that men without hair wear theirs inside out! Now, won't that be a picture?

Projects on the needles now: Brittannie is doing a community service project for people with mental health issues. So, Heather and I are making scarves!

Hoping we can get enough of them together to make a warming difference!
